We received Andrew's report card this past Friday, and we couldn't be prouder. It was nearly perfect and caused Brian and I to reflect on Andrew's progress.
I remember holding him for the first time and only being able to hold him for 1 or 2 minutes before all his alarms sounded and he had to be stabilized. I remember the ventilator that was keeping him alive and causing his tiny chest to pulsate. I remember the doctors and nurses constantly reminding us of all the challenges he would likely face in his future. I remember being scared to death to be required to raise a child with problems and disabilities. I've never been through anything so trying yet so rewarding.
In what seems like a "very short" 7 years, Andrew has only experienced minor problems, compared to what could have been. We are so blessed to have a very healthy, intelligent, energetic kid. I was told at his parent-teacher conference today how bright he is and that he is excelling in school. We are so proud of him and love him so much! Above are some of the very first pictures of him. In one of them he is laying by his stuffed dog "Fudge." Pictured below is a picture of he and Fudge now. You can see just how small he really was!

WOW!! Congrats to Drew! I was there the night we took the first picture with Fudge. He is a miracle, and we just love him!!
I remember him at 1 lb 6 oz, and I knew, even then, that he was going to make it. Such a great spirit in a small body. He really is great!
