When do you stop...

giving your child a nap? I don't know if it is better to let her scream for an hour before she falls asleep or to just give up on the nap altogether! Some pros to making her take a nap are: 1. I get a break from her, which I desperately need. 2. She usually does fall asleep, which she desperately needs. 3. I can get a few things done. Some cons are: 1. She is kind of ornery anyway, so does it really matter? 2. If she doesn't take a nap, it means an earlier bedtime. 3. One of these days, she may actually dive out of the bed and land on her head.

Lest you think I don't love this child, let me reassure you all that I do love her. I think she's great! I just can't decide if it's better to try to force her to nap, even if she is kind of outgrowing it, or if it's better to let her stay awake and compromise my sanity. Any advice would be appreciated!
P.S--She is still in her crib because, let's face it: She hasn't escaped yet, so why rush the big girl bed thing.

It is a hard decision, isn't it? Personally, I would rather deal with a slightly cranky child during the day and earlier bedtime, then screaming for an hour. But that is just me. If the noise is bearable and saves your sanity, then maybe nap time is the way to go. It really is about what works best for your family.

Was that any help at all? Probably not ~ LOL

hahaha! Its so funny to read your blog Natalie. I always thought that it was just little boys that are wild and crazy. I guess they can all have their moments huh? I'm not the best person to give you advice on this subject because we struggle with the same problem at our house. Nathan just turned four and we are still having that problem! Let me know when you find something that works and hang in there!!

I feel like the worst mom everyday because Makaela falls asleep wherever she happens to be at around 4. I stopped the whole nap thing because I couldn't deal with the fight and I let her fall asleep anywhere, I don't think that this is a perfect solution, but I just couldn't take the screaming anymore. She still goes to bed at the same time because she is still sort of getting her nap. It's the lazy-man's way out, but it works in our house!
