Do you want that supersized?

So I've come to the conclusion that I have SERIOUS problems in the mothering department. Last week I was going through the financial statements and started adding up our "eating out" bill. I won't even tell you how much money we spent eating out this past month, but it was a very large sum of money. This all began when I was pregnant with Ava. I was so sick, that fast food became an easy way to get my children fed and to not have to deal with cooking and throwing-up simultaneously. Now we have established this horrible routine of eating out whenever the whim strikes! I have been feeling really bad about it for several reasons, but most of all, because my children are being denied the healthy, nutritious meals they should be eating.

Fast-forward to today, and now I'm feeling like the absolute worst mother alive. When Andrew got in the van after Kindergarten, he immediately says, "Mom. I want McDonalds today!" Well, this past week I've really made an effort to cook and to put that "eating out" money into something more useful (such as savings). So, I said, "Nope. We're having sandwiches and apples." Thus, the crying fit began. I kid you not, the kid whined and cried about eating at McDonalds for a half hour. By the time the whole fit ended, I had taken away the Playstation, the Star Wars movies, and all of Andrew's lightsabers. It became really apparent to me that the child is very passionate about McDonalds, and that is just plain sad. So, my goal is to no longer allow my children to eat total garbage. If any of you happen to see me headed for Wendy's or McDonalds, would you please kindly remind me of my goal? I'd really appreciate it!

Don't ask me to be a good example - I think Wendy's sounds GREAT right now! Especially with our kitchen all boxed up right now. Good for you to step back and make a great goal though... We're moving out by Kurt's family in Stansbury where I'll have BABYSITTERS! Hurray!!!!

haha! It's funny how having a baby changes you life in so many ways. While I was pregnant I was the same way. I have tried doing freezer meals but it seems like its hard to find a day of uninterrupted time to actually make the meals! Good luck with your goal.

I've been down that road before and have heard Maya say such things as well. I'll be your "coach" if you be mine. Those pregnancies kill ya. Cooking is hard when you have barnacles (toddlers) attached! I have 2 saving words for you Nat: Crock Pot. Here's 2 more: Cold Cereal.
