Disrespectful or Hilarious? You Decide!

So, I'll begin this very long post by sharing a little comment Noah made yesterday. Noah was sitting at the computer playing games on Lego.com. I said to him, "Noah, turn down the volume." He responded by saying, "Mom, you're not the boss of the computer." I replied by saying, "I bought the computer, therefore I am the boss." With a very sarcastic tone, Noah said, "Uh uh. Dad makes all the money, so he's the boss. You just sit around here and do nothing!" Apparently stay-at-home moms don't do anything, and dads are the ultimate bosses.

Anyway, on to other things. Last night was the Pinewood Derby. It's really funny how they recommend letting the kids do most of the work on the car, but the instructions tell you to use a saw to create the shape you want. Sand the car. Paint it. Sand it again. Paint it again. Sand it another time. Then paint it again to get the "glow" you desire. Then add all the little details you desire, and so on... Now, how many 8-year-olds do you know that are skilled with a saw, skilled at sanding, and skilled at painting details? Andrew did help with painting (a little bit) and sanding (a little bit), but we didn't allow him to use the saw. Maybe we're just paranoid.

He decided he wanted a Batman-themed car, so I made Batman stencils and let him help stencil the bats on the vehicle. Andrew's car finished 1st place in a couple races and really did pretty well, considering that Mom did the majority of the work on it. It also won the "Rad Paint Job Award." I guess my paint job was a success. Here are some cute pics of the action:

Andrew's school class also had a little performance last week, which was really funny. It was funny because Andrew is definitely his father's child when it comes to performing. As everyone is dancing and singing, Andrew is usually barely mouthing the words and does not dance at all! I'm sure his Dad would rather have a boy who really hates dancing, than one who happily dances, but still. What is wrong with bouncing up and down a bit and stepping side-to-side, while singing?

The photos aren't great, as my camera was being really bizarre, but here are a couple:

Andrew has had a great school year, and we really will miss his teacher. She has been fabulous with him and has really helped him improve his reading and writing, and his confidence has grown tremendously.

Next, it's on to summer. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with that, but I will deal with it one day at a time. Keeping the kids entertained is always the most difficult task. I'm guessing we'll be at Thanksgiving Point a lot, and other than that, we'll be playing a lot with the neighbors and cousins. I wish we had some huge vacation planned, but I think we'll do a camping trip or two and call it good.

Sweet car!! And I know you...soap operas, bon bons, lounging around...that sounds about right. (NOT!). You do WAY more than nothing in a day.
