Andrew has spent the past few months with various illnesses: two flus, colds, and the most recent incident of pink-eye. Why oh why does this kid catch every bug around? I'm assuming his immune system just isn't as strong as most kids'. He had 10, yes 10 absences in his first three months of school. He is going to play basketball this winter, and we're excited to watch his games (which I'm sure are pretty good entertainment). He and Noah are sort of obsessed with basketball right now. There is the constant "basketball being dribbled," sound coming from the basement. This seems to be a much less annoying obsession than prior ones (Batman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones etc.). School is going well, and Andrew seems to be happy there.

Noah is also pretty happy in school. Today was pajama and teddy bear day at school, and although Noah told me he would tell me about the day's events later, he seemed to enjoy it. Noah watches the Utah Jazz schedule religiously and tells me each night whether the Jazz have a game and who they are playing. He actually gets upset when the Jazz lose. He has also quite enjoyed this college football season and continues (along with his father) to rub in the Cougars' victory and Utes' loss. (I cheer for the Utes; Brian and the kids cheer for BYU). Noah is also going to play basketball this year. He has practiced and practiced and practiced. He is also obsessed with everything LEGO. They are all over the house, and yet, he continues to want more.

Ella continues to make life enjoyable and crazy. She tells me about all the preschool happenings and informs me every time someone is put in time-out or every time someone in her class is the least bit naughty. She LOVES art projects and is actually really great at it (this does not come from me). The girl is growing like crazy, and I have a hard time keeping her in clothes without breaking the bank. I think I have bought 4 pairs of jeans in the last 4 months, and she only has 1 pair left that are long enough, and they are getting a hole in the knee. She has also developed pink eye, (as have all the other kids), and it takes Brian holding her down with all his might to get the drops in her eyes. Can you say "stubborn"?

Ava's language has exploded, and she is constantly making us laugh with her new found vocabulary. Andrew and Noah (being the boys that they are) think it's hilarious to tell her to say "potty words," and Ava thinks she is hilarious when she says the words and receives their laughing approval. (As much as I have tried to stop them from doing this, apparently it continues to be funny). Ava's growth has also taken off, and she is now wearing 3T clothing. I'm not sure where my girls get their height from. Ava has taken to climbing on everything (the table, chairs, pantry shelves etc), drawing on everything (walls, floors, her body), and hitting everyone (not with malice, but with love).

Brian and I...well, we're busy, but we're doing well. Brian's company was bought by a larger company, so a lot has changed with his job. This has added some stress to our lives, but we're hoping it produces better things in the long-run. I am LARGE...that's all I can say. I'm at 32 weeks, and the baby is scheduled to come in 7 weeks. She has moved up into my diaphragm, so catching my breath is a bit of a challenge. I also get kicked in the ribs here and there, but the vomiting seems to have subsided...FINALLY!!! Now I need to find some energy to get everything ready for baby, which I just don't really want to tackle. I guess it has something to do with it being Christmas and there just seems to be too much else to conquer.
So there you have it. With only 23 days left in 2009, I've summarized our lives. I am so thankful for my family and the blessings I have been given. I love the gospel and am grateful for a loving Savior who made it possible for me to be with my family eternally. We have had a wonderful year and hope 2010 brings much joy and happiness!!
(After reading this post, I realize how long and tedious it must be for all reading it. It seems kind of like one of those "form" Christmas letters, detailing our lives. I mostly posted this for my own purposes and memory, so don't feel bad if you must stop reading or if you just don't really care. I won't be offended.)

Your last paragraph made me laugh because right before that I seriously thought, "She could transfer this to a Christmas card. It's perfect!" Haha. Only 7 weeks to go - good for you! Just think it's the last most miserable 7 weeks you'll ever have to endure again!!!
Loved reading every word. Thanks for sharing.
I was thinking the same thing as Sher. Ha! I like the updates though - it's neat to hear about your family.
I have to agree about the clothes. I'm finally understanding my mother's frustration at me growing out of things so quickly when I was younger. Ryan isn't even 18 months old yet and has grown out of most of his 18 month pants, and some of his shirts. I thought I was all set for the winter, but it looks like we'll be looking for clothes again.
I read it all too. These are actually my favorite kind of posts. I live near you and some of this stuff, even I didn't know! 7 weeks is going to fly by. You need to make a list of everything you want to do before baby comes and Shelley and I can tackle some of it for you. I'm being serious here, so take the help and enjoy it!!
I thought it was a great chronicle of your recent lives. I feel like I actually know what's going on! Aim for January 24th, then I'll have one of their birthdays that I can actually remember! Are you going to name her Gwendoline? You should. That's a cool name. (Sorry, crazy bored at work!)
7 more weeks! Man- didn't even get to see you pregnant! BUMMER! I made it all the way to the end of the post and wanted more!! :) Hope things are well.
10 ABSENCES?...lucky him!
