Basketball...

This is the constant topic at our house; from Noah keeping us all informed of the day's NBA games, to constant scrimmaging in the basement. Noah and Andrew are basketball gurus right now. They eat, drink and sleep the sport. If you want to know who the Atlanta Hawks play on February 5, ask Noah. He is looking at NBA.com whenever he gets the chance. His big thing right now is voting (at NBA.com of course) for the NBA All-Stars.

Andrew and Noah are both playing in the Junior Flash league that Lehi City sponsors. They like it a lot better than they liked either baseball or soccer. They are really excited about every game and practice and are a lot more confident in their abilities. Noah is still really timid when it comes to game time, but I think he'll eventually assert himself. Andrew is Mr. Defense. In fact, I had to tell him to back off a bit at the last game, because he was so intensely focused on guarding his man. I took a few pics of both the boys' games, but I need a new camera, so the pictures are pretty bad. This is Noah during a break in the game, and sadly, the actual "game" pics are blurry and dark. The real highlight of the game was Ava doing a nose-dive/face plant maneuver on the bleachers, and getting a massive bloody nose. I think her nose bled off and on for two days after the event.

Here's Noah posing after the game.

Here's Andrew during his game. Again, it's the best shot I could get. For some reason, when I use the zoom on my camera, the picture is dark...annoying.

Other recent events to document: the surprise girls' night/baby shower/celebration that Shelley and Lindsay sneakily put together for me. Honestly, I've been a wreck as of late, and I really needed to get out and enjoy the company of the ladies I love most. Shell and Lin invited my best gals (themselves, of course; my Mom; my sister-in-law, Emily; and my best gal friends: Katie, Kelly, Lorien and Ashley) to a night out at the Olive Garden. They gave me fabulous gifts, and we got to spend a night chatting and laughing. We missed my Aunt Mary Ann and cousin Amy (who were also invited but couldn't make it). I really wasn't expecting the surprise, and I'm so glad to have sisters who are so thoughtful and supportive. Really, I have the BEST sisters on Earth. I've been a big whiner about this pregnancy, and they don't judge; they just listen and make me feel better. They really are the VERY BEST!

Brian's birthday was on January 5th, and being the very tired, ornery, pregnant lady, I regret to say I didn't make it as fabulous as it should have been. He's very understanding, but I hope he knows how much I appreciate his patience and his acceptance of my moodiness. We had cake and ice cream on the night of his birthday, and the kids surprised him when he came home from work (You know, jumping out and yelling "SURPRISE," when he came through the door). On the Saturday following his birthday, we went out for dinner at the Olive Garden (surprise, surprise), and then we went and bought him new shoes and some new clothing; the gifts that keep on giving. Anyway, Happy Birthday Bri! I really married one awesome, helpful, understanding guy, and I couldn't have picked a better one!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant, having contractions here and there and really am ready for this baby, despite not being prepared. I think being ready and being prepared are two totally different things. I know this baby will come eventually (only 12 more days at the most; January 26th is the scheduled c-section), but I would welcome early labor, water breaking in public, or anything that could possibly present this child any sooner. It really is true that each pregnancy is harder than the last, or maybe it's the 4 kids I already have at home that has made this pregnancy harder. Either way, I am done! So, I'll keep praying for an early delivery, full-well knowing that January 26th will probably be the big day.
