FINALLY

Sadie Irene Smith was born on Tuesday, January 26th at 6:55 am. Brian and I arrived at the hospital at 5:30 am, the surgery began at 6:30 am, and Sadie was out at 6:55. By 7:30, I was in the recovery room, anxiously waiting for the nursery to release my baby so I could see her. I got to see her for a couple minutes in the operating room, but I couldn't really see her well because I was strapped to the operating room table.

The surgery went really well, and I felt pretty good following the surgery. I was up and walking by evening, and I really wasn't in too much pain. In fact, this was probably the quickest recovery of all 5 of my c-sections. I was expecting it to be the worst.

Sadie is a funny baby. She wants what she wants when she wants it. The girl has some serious lung power. She doesn't like having her diaper changed or having her comfort interrupted for any reason. She had zero desire to nurse...believe me, I tried. Even the lactation specialist in the hospital said she'd never seen a baby quite so determined not to nurse. After much deliberation and several melt-downs, I decided it isn't worth it, and I'm okay with that. So, Sadie will be a "bottle" baby, and that's completely okay. I can't worry about it any more.

We are really happy to have our new addition home with us. The kids LOVE her and want to hold her every second they get a chance. She seems to fit right in with our family, and I can't wait to see what the future holds with this little one.

We love Sadie, and I don't care what you say, she's sweet, and I am in love with her. Don't worry about the nursing thing...my kids are just fine (although Lucy is feeding off the floor right now, so you be the judge). Congrats! I'm coming to hold her ASAP.
