A Few Things

Oh boy, lots of things have been going on around here. First of all, my little brother, Jeff, graduated from Utah State with a History degree. I was able to go to his graduation, and I couldn't be more proud. He is off to George Mason Law School in the fall, and although we will miss him, we are so proud of his accomplishments.

At the Smith house, a few funny things have been happening as of late. One thing I haven't posted about involves Andrew and his music preferences. Keep in mind, the kid is 9 years old. Well, a few weeks before Christmas, he and Noah wanted to listen to Christmas music while falling asleep. No harm done. We turned on a random Christmas CD for them, which happens to have all the great Crooners; Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Bing Crosby. Andrew developed a special bond with Mr. Crosby, and now, it being May 17th, he is STILL listening to Mr Crosby's "Do You Hear what I Hear," every night while falling asleep. We must put this song on "repeat." So, it plays over, and over, and over. We've toyed with the idea of hiding the Christmas CD or conveniently misplacing it, but I'm not sure how well this would go over. Andrew is lucky to have Noah as a brother, because Noah is PATIENT! Does Noah like listening to the same song every night? No. But, he puts up with it. Anyway, kind of funny.

Another funny thing: Ava has taken to a new phrase lately. As she is talking about Sadie or looking at her or referring to Sadie in any way, Ava exclaims, "Baby's jelly jelly." Do any of us know what this means? No. But she continues to state the same thing with a great amount of confidence. Hmmmmmmm?

We bought our Thanksgiving Point family membership and are looking forward to using it lots and lots this summer. We made our first visit to the Gardens on Saturday, and it did not disappoint. Due to really cold weather this year, there were still plenty of tulips. Granted, they weren't in their fully glory, but we enjoyed them nonetheless.

As school winds down, we are looking forward to the lazy days of summer. I'm doing a little sprucing up in Sadie's bedroom and can't wait for her bedding and wall decals to arrive via UPS. I hope it all comes together as I envisioned. The poor child has been sleeping mostly in her car seat because of her acid reflux problems. I know what the doctors say about this in normal cases, but my doctor assured me that it was fine given the circumstances. However, Sadie has recently slept in the pack n' play a few times and has done pretty well, so she can now graduate to her crib. We have FINALLY gotten Ava to sleep in a big girl bed, and she's (a little reluctantly) handed her crib over to Sadie.

Oh, and one final note: Brian and I got rid of our Facebook accounts, much to our relief. We were wasting WAY too much time, and quite frankly, I feel liberated.

Anyway, sorry about the looooooooooooooong post. Those are the haps around here.

You and Brian are smart. I may delete my facebook account in the near future as well. I waste so much time on it.

I love the picture of Thanksgiving Point and my adorable grandkids.... I wish we could have gone there with you! We will for sure soon! Facebook is a waste of time and gets a lot of people in trouble as we well know!

Do you think I can find Lindsay's old Frank Sinatra poster and Ken doll to give to Andrew? I know it is not Bing, but he is a Crooner after all?

I too have a special place in my heart for crooners.

Congrats on freedom from Facebook! I can't bring myself to do that, but I always want to.
Thanks for the shout-out!

I love that a 9 year old is into Bing Crosby...you're lucky its not Alvin and the Chipmunks or something obnoxious like that! Grant listened to the song " I want Candy" about a million times today-I was about to lose my mind!! :) Your kids are so cute!

So fun to run into you the other day. I still can't get over how absolutely beautiful your girls are! And I love that Andrew loves the great crooners-smart boy.
