22 weeks down, 18 to go!!!

I haven't posted much about this pregnancy, mostly because it has not been pleasant AT ALL. But, I figure for posterity, I better write down a few things that I may forget. So, here it goes:

First of all, I am gaining weight like a champion. I won't give exact numbers, but I already weigh as much as I did when I gave birth to Ella (yep, I have 4 months left). I have to keep getting more maternity clothes, and I am now really HATING maternity clothes. Let's face it, even with the more current styles, maternity clothes are just not attractive. Secondly, the leg cramps have begun. Anyone who has experienced these nightmare charlie-horses in the night knows how excruciatingly painful they are. It seems having Brian rub my calves before bedtime helps. Next, throughout the pregnancy, I've pretty much had 2-3 migraines per week. It reminds me of my migraines when I was pregnant with Andrew....and, I don't really love anything to remind me of my scary experience with Andrew. Add these things to the continual throwing up, sleepless nights, and other "unmentionable" pregnancy symptoms, and it has made for a fine experience.

There have been a lot of positives as well. My kids have been SO EXCITED and are always asking me what the baby is doing, if she is awake or sleeping and when she is going to be here. I love that they have welcomed the idea so enthusiastically. We'll see how they feel about it when the baby actually arrives.

I'm finally to a point where I get to experience feeling the baby move all the time. It's really the only thing I love about being pregnant. Once I feel movement, I feel a connection to the baby, and that gets me really excited. The ultrasound went really well, and it was such a relief knowing that the baby looks healthy and perfect. Not that you can really tell, but it seemed to me that she has a similar nose to Ava's and nice, full lips. It will be really fun to see if she has the same dark, full head of hair as the other two girls had. I can't wait to see this child. I'm also realizing that I am 18 weeks away from NEVER being pregnant again; which is also a positive. :0)

So now I've documented a few things about this pregnancy, and I'm feeling better about not forgetting details. Hopefully I don't have to write about any more weird symptoms of pregnancy, and the rest of the pregnancy will be smooth-sailing!

Hang in there! I realized just now that you're going to be the Smith Seven!

You poor kiddo - if you weren't sure this was the last kiddo BEFORE you got pregnant, sounds like you do NOW!! Good luck handling the next 18 weeks. Wish I had some tips for you - but you've done this more than me!! Glad the kids are excited for her - at least she'll be well loved. I'm just really glad you're not having twins! Love them - but that would be really hard with older kids to take care of, too!

I don't know Nat..."Never being pregnant again?" That seems a little extreme, don't you think? Migraines, leg cramps, maternity clothes...those things all seem like a dream you'd never want to end.

Been there, done that and never doing it again. Sadly, there has to be a last child and we have had ours. He completely thrills me everyday and I just can't get enough of him. So you enjoy every second of your sweet little girl before she grows right before your eyes!

Well, you look great...I really don't know how you manage to do your hair EVERY day with all the yuckiness. You put me to shame in that department. I'm as excited as your kids to see this little bundle. If only January would come already!

There will be a day when you will look back on this time with fond memories, however you will probably be a grandma by then. I can't wait for another gorgeous spunky baby girl.

I am sure you look great! I too had the leg AND arm cramps (my Dr. told me that you develop the same hormones when you are pregnant that also trigger arthritis...great). I ate A TON of bananas and that helped but now, they make me sick! Any names yet?
