January 26, 2010 and H1N1

I got to schedule my c-section for January 26, 2010. I know this is my in-laws' anniversary, and I'm really sorry about that, but it was the earliest the doctor could do it, and I am not waiting one day longer than I have to. Now, if the baby decides to come early (say another week or so), I won't mind. I just hope she doesn't decide to pull an Andrew on us.

In other news, the kids and I headed to the County Health Department yesterday for H1N1 shots. We waited in a long line for an hour and a half, and finally reached the clinic to get our shots. My kids provided the comedy for everyone in the room. Ella ran frantically around the clinic, screaming at the top of her lungs, "I don't want a shot!!" Andrew kept hiding behind a partition the volunteers had placed in between lines. I got my shot first to show the kids that it wasn't a big deal. Then, Noah marched right up to the nurse, sat down, and took his shot like a man. Ava was next. I had to hold her arms, but she got her shot, cried for about 30 seconds, and then she was fine. Luckily, there was a sweet gal in line in front of us who held Ava while I chased down Ella and held her. Ella was furious with me for half the ride home, but she survived. (Am I the most sympathetic Mom? The answer is NO). After Ella, I grabbed Andrew, dragged him over to the nurse, and held him on my lap (Yes, the 8-year-old was more nervous than the 2-year-old). After receiving the shot, Andrew exclaimed, "That didn't hurt." I think he was embarrassed about acting so nervous after he realized that I hadn't lied to him. It really didn't hurt.

Unfortunately, I have to take all the kids back in a month for a follow-up shot. Brian will definitely be attending the event with us next time. It wasn't one of the best 2 hour periods of my life but was well-worth the temporary drama. I hope, hope, hope we don't see any nasty flu viruses around here this season. Andrew has come down with a little bug, but hopefully it won't last too long.

Wow! -You've already scheduled your c-section. Your pregnancy is going by so fast. (It probably doesn't seem fast to you though, huh). -I hope she doesn't pull an Andrew on you either.

I wish that we were all vaccinated!! We have all had the regular flu shots but we still haven't gotten the swine flu yet. We all have had a bad cold and I didn't want to stand out in the rain for two hours in Layton so that we could all have pneumonia!! Hoping that we can get in on the next batch that comes in. It's scary being pregnant with all this going on huh? I'm so jealous that you are so close to your due date!!Can't wait to see what the next little cutie will look like!

You reminded me of a day probably 27 maybe 28 years ago when I took Jacob, Shelley, You, Mark, Matt, Lindsay, and Amy to a shot clinic at the Sr. Citizen's building to get everyone their annual shots. One of the worst days of my life. I can't really remember what labor feels like, but I haven't forgotten that day. I feel your pain and would be glad to go with you next time. ;0)

I know people here waited over 6 hours to get the vaccine on Friday. I think we've been exposed to the virus, so we're going to wait a few days to see if anyone comes down with it. If not, we'll be standing in line too.

Shots are horrible! I would rather get the shots than take my kids to get theirs. You are a trooper! I love your story and I sure hope Brian can go next time.
