Slacking...

I know, I know. I've been totally slacking in the blogging department. I don't even know if anyone reads this anymore, but I figure I better do better at documenting things, even if it's just for me. We had a great Thanksgiving. I don't know whether I've mentioned much about my foot surgery, but it has been quite the fun experience. (Note the sarcasm). I wasn't my usual self this Thanksgiving because I wasn't super mobile due to my pink cast and pins sticking out of my toes. The food suffered a bit.

I did, however, do okay on the pies. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE baking pies. One year when I was in college, my Mom taught me to do pie crust, and the rest is history. I LOVE to do it. So, I made several (and I mean several) pies. I think my in-laws were quite shocked when I brought 3 pies and a cheesecake to Thanksgiving dinner. My sis-in-law Lesa also made a wonderful pumpkin cheesecake, and my Mom-in-law makes awesome tarts every year, so we had a plethora of dessert options. Of course no relative on the Ellison side of the fam is surprised by this, because that's just how the Ellisons do things, and obviously I've inherited the gene for making way to much food.

Anyway, it was a delightful Thanksgiving, but I'm sorry to say I didn't take any pictures. Too busy I guess. I did, however, take pictures of my kids and adorable nieces. My nieces, Lexi and Hailey came down from Farmington and stayed with us, so we had a great time with them. We went to the dinosaur museum, which was really fun. I'm not sure if Hailey had been there or not, but she LOVED it. I still really miss Farmington, and I miss not being able to see these cute girls every day, so it was really fun to have them.

We also decorated our Christmas tree. Actually, we did it the weekend before Thanksgiving. I guess I was just full of holiday cheer or something. I don't know. I just had the itch to get it up. Now, it is a Charlie Brown tree, but I do my best to make it look good. Brian insisted on colored lights this year, so I had to buy colorful ornaments too. The old stuff would have just looked weird. So, with the new colorful snowflake ornaments, balls and our traditional Hallmark ornaments, it looks pretty good. Here are the cutest gals in front of the tree.

Not too much else has been going on, other than being crazy busy with school, babysitting and trying to maintain a decent living area. I did get a new couch (after 10 years of our old, used, uglier than anything couch). That was pretty exciting for me. My right foot gets to have surgery on Dec. 22. Great timing, I know, but it was the only open day before the end of the year. So, we have one more week of school to go, foot surgery, and then Christmas. HOORAY! We're looking forward to a fabulous time spent with family and enjoying our holiday.
