ONE

My baby turned 1 today. I'm not thrilled about it. One year ago today was bittersweet; bitter because I knew it would be the last time I held my own brand new baby in my arms, but sweet because I had the most gorgeous, sweet baby in my arms. This past year has FLOWN. I've tried to really enjoy each moment with Sadie, yet it has all gone by so fast. She is now entering toddlerhood, and there is pretty much nothing I can do about it.

There are a few good things about her being older. She sleeps, which every parent knows is a HUGE bonus. She's starting to express her wants and needs more understandably. She can play more easily with her siblings. These are all things to be grateful for, right?

There's just something sad about your baby (and by this I mean last child) leaving babyhood. I'll now always have to look back and remember my babies, no longer presently experiencing the thrills of raising a baby.

I do see a light at the end of the tunnel however, and that is nice. It's nice knowing that in 4 short years, I'll have all my kids in school and ample time to exercise, clean, lounge about... That will certainly ease the sadness.

We celebrated Miss Sadie's birthday in a pretty lax manner. I remember when Andrew, the first child, had his first birthday, I made invitations, invited friends and family and decorated my heart out. Those times are gone my friends. I have realized that there is no need for me to spend oodles of money and time, while losing my sanity, to throw a huge 1st birthday shindig. Shockingly, the kid doesn't know what's up and doesn't care about anything but stuffing his/her face with cake. Sadie put on quite a grand show tonight.

"I'm not sure what to do with this Mom."

"This works"

"This is super tasty"

"I am one happy kid!"

We love, love, love this kid! We're so happy to have her in our family. Happy Birthday to our perfect Sadie Lady!!!

Wow...I can't believe she's one either. She sure is beautiful, just like the rest of your kids. I love the last picture. Looks like she enjoyed her cake! Happy Birthday Sadie!
