Hobo Joe

Brian's new nickname for Ava is "Hobo Joe." She's going through an interesting phase lately where she scours her favorite place, the pantry, for whatever she would like to eat, and then she drags her chosen food product all over the house while digging right into the box with her hands. She also PREFERS to eat food off the ground. No, she does not want to sit in a highchair or at the table, she wants her food on the floor. The following picture is an example of this behavior:

Here Ava has poured her Life Cereal all over the kitchen floor, and then she just sat right down and began to eat. Once upon a time, I would have worried about the germs and filth on the floor. After having 4 kids and being somewhat apathetic, I just thought, "Have at it!"

Here she is in the pantry, snacking on Apple Jacks:

And here she is sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor with her foot in a box of graham crackers! Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Seriously, do you think our kids are related? Lindsay will not sit at the table to eat. She has to STAND in a chair-- and that is only if we are all at the table. Otherwise she walks around the house leaving a trail of cereal/grapes/whatever. I have tried to putting her "treats" in a little plastic bag for her to carry but I am forever stepping on her leftovers.

That's the cutest hobo I've ever seen.

Finally...someone else who can relate to my child and her strange demands. Good thing we have cute ones; otherwise, I wouldn't give in!

Sounds like my house. Only at my house, we have a dog that likes to share with the kids. Bree shares with the dog every chance she gets. Yuck!

My kids throw their food on the floor all the time and it drives me crazy! I make them eat it as punishment. Maybe that's why they keep getting sick?

I will remind you of the story of the entire box of cereal dumped on the kitchen floor with a gallon of milk poured over it. (Or worse, the bottle of syrup on another occasion.) History repeats itself, but who can complain when those beautiful baby blues look up at you?
