Back to School

School has begun; we're back in the swing of things. Andrew started 2nd grade and seems to be really enjoying it. He's made some new friends this year, and I am hoping it all goes well with that. He is now a bus rider, and I'm trying my best to be comfortable with it. I don't know why, but I just have a hard time allowing someone I don't know to transport my child, not to mention the many children I don't know, saying and doing who knows what. There has already been one bus incident, but it wasn't a big deal. It was a "just ignore it," kind of thing.

Noah began Kindergarten this year, and as I have watched him, I am CERTAIN we made the right decision in waiting one more year. He is definitely ready this year and is excited about learning. I love to watch his confident little self walking out of school every day. He is excited about projects he brings home and is really loving math. I don't think he cares as much about letters and sounds, but that's okay. As long as he knows his letters and what sounds they make, I'm good. He can read some simple words, so I'm starting to read level 1 and 2 books with him. (It's funny, because Ella reads them right along with us, and Noah gets super annoyed).

Ella begins preschool tomorrow, and a child could not be more ready. She is SUPER excited to demonstrate her counting and letter knowledge. She'll count to 30, then giggle and laugh at her success. Then, she'll count to 100, and each time she will proclaim, "Mom. I am such a smart girl." We're not raising an egomaniac or anything.

Anyway, we're excited for this school year, and I can say that I'm excited for the time I'll have to clean (which seemed never to happen during the summer). Here's a picture of Noah and Andrew on the first day of school.

Don't you just love school/schedules? ...I know I do

I'd be proud too if I could count to 100 without messing up! (Sometimes I forget the 70's...? And unlike others that has nothing to do with drugs.)

Wow, number 2 in school huh? how exciting. I myself am enjoying one minus child at home. It may only be half day but worth it.

What handsome boys on the first day of school! These kids are growing so fast...weren't they all just in nursery, Talia too? ;)

They are growing up so fast. I hope they all love school as much as you love the quiet time.

(Side note to Jeff -- Those of us who experienced the 70's are getting old enough to forget without the effect of drugs as well.)
