Halloween. Friend or Foe?

I vote friend, but barely this year. I, being a major dummy, chose to have foot surgery the weekend before Halloween. Not smart my friends. So, I wasn't as useful this year as I have been in the past. Our family was also struck with a major Cold bug, which didn't help matters. But, we made the best of the disability, illness, and weather, and all-in-all, we had a good time.

Brian's family has a family Halloween party every year. This happened to be the day after my surgery, so Sadie and I were MIA, but Brian took the 4 older kids, and they had a great time. Here they are in costume. Brian, however, didn't wear a costume. We just don't do that.

Raggedy Ann, Mario, Luigi, and Cleopatra (just in case you couldn't tell).

At the party

Brian's cousin Randy. Gross.

On Friday, I attended two Halloween parades, trick-or-treating at Brian's work, and we went to the ward Trunk-or-Treat. I was so tired after being on my bum foot all day, but I survived, and the kids had fun and got loads of candy.

Then on Saturday, the chaos began. I ran a quick trip to the grocery store with 3 candy-loaded kids and again, a bum foot. Not my finest hour. Then, as we were getting ready to head to our Ricks family fiesta, Ella began to cry about her ear hurting. And she cried and cried. So, poor Brian, who wasn't planning on going to the party because he was hacking up a lung, took Andrew, Noah, and Ava to the Ricks shindig and dropped them off (Thank you to my Mom, Shell, Lin, Jake and Em who were so kind in caring for my misfits), and I took Ella over to the Alpine Pediatrics after hours to find out she had a fever and a double ear-infection. So, after picking up antibiotics (Thank you Target Pharmacy for being so quick.......NOT) and a few special prizes for Ella who had to miss out on Halloween festivities, I missed the party. I did trick-or-treat (between rain downpours) with the kids at a few houses, but that was it.

So, Halloween this year was sort of a bust, but I do love to dress up my kids. It's pretty fun, and I love to see them so excited and looking so cute. And, on that note, I'll end with a final pic of this little lady in her costume.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Glad I wasn't the only Halloween reject this year.

The costumes are so cute! So sorry that it wasn't the greatest holiday for you. You are a trooper and I am sure your kids will all still have fond memories. I hope your foot gets feeling better soon.
